Yes this is a post about Family Camp...
Though long overdue, after careful deliberation and intense recollection sitting in front of my computer with my eyes squinted like Hiro Nakamura, I have finally recalled a few bits and pieces of Family Camp.
Hooray for humankind.
This was my first "Family Camp" ever... so I was pretty excited to see how eccentric people like uncle Leo, aunty Siew, Luk, aunty Helen etc can get when not sitting in front of that pulpit every Sunday.
Anyway, it did not disappoint. Within moments we were witness to sights of Luk wriggling a Pringle from his forehead towards the path to his mouth... resting at the nostrils before exploding into laughter much at the festive uproar of the entire camp crew.
And so the games went on, challengers come and challegers go, aunties yell and uncles blush...RL drank a Coke and ate two lemons in under 30seconds...
Thereafter Rev. Lee kicked off a series of sermons regarding evangelism and the idea of going out and spreading the Gospel.
To cap off a fruitful night I decided to say hi with some of the young adult fellowship that I haven't really got to meet since coming to EMP, after 10 minutes of banta I realised that I needed to learn the Ting family tree in order to understand EMP history... and so I was educated by a cluster of YAF.
The next day consisted of more good feeds and spontaneous games. I got to know Sharon, the other lawyer from church and her husband and we shared about legal aspirations... yes... thats right...
Uncle Jacky's pants got egged during mini olympics... so did mine...
We took our shirts off for making the longest line of stuff and I got a grass itch for days afterwards...
Freetime consisted of MYFers mingling with JYFers and adults and pastors and families mingled amongst each other like there were no distinction... thats why its called Family Camp.
Most memorable moment? Definitely when Colin decided to sleep talk during the middle of the night...
Colin (in bed eyes closed wolfman-beard unshaven): WHAT ARE YOU DOING!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!
Mickey & I (pull pillow over head thinking maybe Colin's being attacked): meh... too lazy to get up and see what's going on
Bui : zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Matt (my brother, innocently): what are you saying?
And so crazy was Family Camp that everyone had lots of fun... and learnt lots from Rev Lee's sermons.
P.S. If you think Sunday service at church 52 weeks a year is boring... come to Sunday Service at Family Camp to spice it up!
/out.
