I want to start off by saying a big thank you to everybody participating in our church's Daily Bible Reading Programme for 2009! What a great way to foster daily spiritual discipline by encouraging brothers and sisters to read the Bible everyday!

The programme itself is very flexible and there is no set structure regarding what you have to read, how much you have to read etc. So all you have to do is read the Bible and record what you read... that's it! Even if you just read one verse a day, that's fantastic! Of course you can read more if you're awesome...

For those of us who aren't following a reading plan already, it can get a bit tricky deciding what to read. So instead of flipping your Bible open to some random page everyday, here are some great online resources to help you out!

Daily Bible Verse - A nice way to ease yourself into reading the Bible everyday. You can even get verses emailed to your inbox everyday - too easy! Just click on "Receive This By Email" and put in your email address, pick your favourite Bible translation (Tip: We usually use New International Version at church!), tick the box for Daily Bible Verse emails, and away you go!

Daily Disciples Devotional - There are gajillions of daily devotionals that you can find online, but this one's a pretty good pick. You can also get these delivered straight to your inbox for free! Just find the sign up box on the top right hand corner of the page, stick in your email address and Bob's your uncle... but not really.

EDIT...
Our Daily Bread - So the Daily Disciples Devotional wasn't really getting to people's inboxes. My bad. Here's a link to the infamous Our Daily Bread devotionals, and there's an email option on the right side of the page. Give it a go and let me know if you have any problems!

Daily Record Sheet - Some of us have received hard copy record sheets from church already, but for those who prefer a soft copy here is a free Excel calendar that I found on the net, which you can use to keep a record of what you read everyday. It's pretty handy to use in conjunction with the online verses and/or devotionals, plus you save paper and ink!

The church is giving away prizes for those who read the Bible for a certain amount of days, but the greatest reward will be learning about, and growing closer to God through His Word - so it's never too late to start! Interested? Questions? You can find me in person, on MSN, or send me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Love Max
