Hey all,

If you STILL haven't noticed after all this time and all the announcements... We have a new MYF CORNER!!! WHAT IS IT?! Well, it's a place where two people will be rostered and presented every fortnight of youth and anyone can write Warm Fuzzies for them!

Warm Fuzzy noun. 1. A good impression; a feeling of comfort or trust (wiktionary.org). 2. A personal message written on a small piece of coloured paper for another person. The message typically makes the recipient feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

If you went to our winter youth camp Break Free '09 (which I'm hoping you did!), you'll remember frantically writing warm fuzzies for people. Well, the MYF CORNER is the same concept, except that you only have to write two every fortnight, rather than writing 70 in 4 days (read: 70 in the last night)!

On another note, I would like to ask everyone in the youth to continue talking to, getting to know, showing love for and making new-comers feel welcomed. But this isn't just limited to Saturday nights where we have youth; it's also applies to Sunday mornings! After the church service, new-comers can feel quite out of place without knowing many people and with the hustle and bustle of large groups of people (and asians) it's quite intimidating.

How we can help:

  1. Firstly, keep an eye out for new comers, especially those who are young and around our age (12 to 27ish)!

  2. Say "Hi" to them! Don't be afraid, because they're probably more scared of you than you are of them (like spiders). You can also grab a friend and say "Hi" together!

  3. Get to know them! Now I don't mean find out their deepest darkest secrets, but just find out some general points of interest about them. Such as - where they work or go to school or uni / what they do for a living / where they live / how they came to find out about our church / what kind of cars they like - and so on.

  4. Introduce them to other youth people!

  5. Invite them to youth!

Thanks to everyone for helping kick start the new MYF CORNER! Keep up the great work writing warm fuzzies. Keep making and helping new-comers feel welcomed. And most of all, keep showing each other the love God has commanded us to show for one another!

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'  This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40)

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. (1 John 4:16)

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Peace,

-Michael
